The South Scarborough Cluster Food Security Coordinator will work closely with the South Scarborough Cluster partners (The City of Toronto, United Way Greater Toronto, and community agencies), to develop a strategic plan around food security needs in South Scarborough. This role will work to undertake an environmental scan and understand the food security issues, resources and information for residents and grassroots groups from communities adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The role will also work closely with grassroots groups, networks, and stakeholders to ensure gaps and opportunities to meet food security needs are communicated to service providers.
Service Delivery and Developments (max 95%) :
➢ Collaborate with the South Scarborough Cluster to develop two strategic intervention/pilots that will mitigate needs identified through assessment/research
➢ Coordinate Food Security partnership meetings for the South Scarborough Cluster, grassroots groups, and resident groups, and mutual aid networks
➢ Attend South Scarborough Cluster meetings to report on and support dialogue to strategize on gaps and needs across South Scarborough.
➢ Outreach to resident groups, mutual aid networks and grassroots groups involved in food security to ensure they are included in broader South Scarborough Cluster Food Security strategies
➢ Hire community animators to conduct an assessment/environmental scan to inform strategic interventions in the area of food security /mental health
➢ Provide warm referrals to residents to relevant food security services and programs offered by member agencies
➢ Develop an evaluation framework in conjunction with the Cluster agencies with key indicators and outcomes to assess impact
➢ Ensure that, at least the two interventions identified in food security/mental health benefits 300 unique individuals
➢ Work with the South Scarborough Cluster Communications team to develop effective and adaptive communication tools to share food security strategic priorities and plans to partner agencies and resident groups and other relevant stakeholders
➢ Collaborate with Scarborough Food Security Initiative Food Security programme to ensure that needs of the communities are addressed.
➢ Assist with project documentation including tracking service numbers, trends, gaps and opportunities to inform final report to funder
➢ Participate in team and relevant stakeholder meetings (online/ and or in person) on a regular basis
➢ Track and submit expense claims and project spending in accordance with Scarborough Food Security Initiative financial deadlines and processes Agency

➢ Maintains good working relationships with co-workers and volunteers.
➢ Attends meetings and participates in agency-wide fundraising and community outreach initiatives
➢ The minimum level of education required is a post-secondary degree and or equivalent community-focused or non-profit experience
➢ Strong Project management Experience.
➢ Knowledge of and/or lived experience of pressing issues facing residents from communities across South Scarborough, adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic
➢Experience with and understanding of effective tools, resources and systems needed to support frontline food security programs and services
➢Competence in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with network partners, grassroots groups, and resident led mutual aid networks
➢ Understanding of community development/organizational development, anti -oppression/Anti- Black racism/equity frameworks and commitment to equity, inclusion, and anti-oppression
➢ Critical thinking skills- ability to see the big picture (e.g., systemic issues that impact clients), observe and analyze emerging/changing community needs, opportunities for new partnerships
➢ Effective time management and organizational skills- able to plan, prioritize, meet weekly deadlines
➢ Strong written and verbal communication –able to develop and disseminate effective communication materials to stakeholders from diverse cultural backgrounds including hard to reach residents
➢ Proven skills in word processing, excel spreadsheets, google docs, Microsoft teams, zoom time management, multi-tasking
➢ Proficiency in advanced English, and strong verbal and written skills
➢ Effective time management- plan, prioritize and organize tasks, juggle multiple responsibilities
➢ Other Requirements: A successful clearance of criminal record verification will be required when necessary for the position.
